Your just desert
~ A Sweetly Mistaken Catchphrase [13022]

"Your just desert” is not "your just desserts.”

Wherever you travel in the world you can find a pastry shop or candy store titled "Just Desserts." It is a catchy name that, from a marketing standpoint, is very effective. Perhaps too effective because you find numerous examples of writers using "your just dessert" when they mean "desert" as in "deserve."

The phrase, "your just desert" is karmic in nature. It is closely related to the phrase "poetic justice" meaning "you get what you deserve."

Having said all that, I think I deserve another dessert.
