We are all Keynesians now.
~ American Proverb [19105]

President Richard Nixon was famously quoted as saying "I am now a Keynesian in economics" after taking the United States off of the gold standard in 1971.  The irony being the departure from one political philosophy to another, even though it was not fully embraced.

The phrase has been often repeated in political debates throughout the last four decades. Sometimes it is used in jest, other times a testimonial to the soundness behind the principle thoughts of economist John Maynard Keynes.
