Poetic justice.
~ Literary Phrase [13012]

Poetic justice in literary terminology is loosely defined as a good thing that is ultimately rewarded with good in return, or more commonly the opposite, as bad or evil that is repaid with bad or evil. In many story lines, the karmic event is delivered through a bit of irony.

A good illustration is The Coyote and Roadrunner cartoons. The bad, Wile E. Coyote. often falls victim of the treachery he intended to perpetuate on the roadrunner.
