Cameroonian Proverbs (101-123)

To start a fight, one does not bring a knife that cuts but a needle that sews.

To punch with a strong fist, you need to turn over your hand.

What is hanging up, cannot be reached sitting down.

When a leaf falls to the ground, the tree gets the blame.
The shame goes to the tree.

When you need to make an important decision,
never do it alone, choose the right people.

When you eat an egg do not insult the chicken.

When a mother has twins she must sleep on her back.

Where there is no shame, there is no honor.

Where the rooster crows there is a village.

Who eats too much, will then be sick.

Who built the drum knows best what is inside.

Who does not love to dance, does not love to sing.

Who gets lost in the forest takes it out
on who leads him back to the right road.

Wisdom is like fire. People take it from others.

You cannot hear a baby cry in the mother's womb.

You cannot be a mouse and a bat at the same time.

You are invited to join the hunt when your nets are in evidence.

You can see the source of a river, but not that of a clan.

You are beautiful; but learn to work, for you cannot eat your beauty.

You are not born a leader, you become one.

You learn how to cut down trees cutting them down.

You take a bull by the horns and a man by his words.

Your mother is still your mother, though her legs be small.
